Just wondered whether there are any ladies out there that have gone from being independant to working through an agency..

We often hear of ladies changing from agency to independant, but does it ever work the other way??

Don't know if it works, but know that it happens. Guess it means life as an Indie, being your own receptionist and marketing dept isn't just as easy as it might have seemed.

Depends what the benefits are when working for an agency. Do u get sick & holiday pay? Do u get access to a WG pension scheme? Do u get protected by a big ugly mofo? If the "benefits" of an agency are just the advertising and lining up appointments for upto 30% of your fee, then i think indie is the best.

true but if a WG is looking to do a very few jobs per week she may well be happy to let someone else deal with all the crap and just do her thing ;)

her hourly rate could work out much the same as its not just the hr with a punter but all time fixing it up.

Of late we have noticed this happening.

We have 3-4 ladies working for us at present who work elsewhere in the country as independants under a different name.

Not for us to comment on the benefits one way or the other but these are the reasons they've given us for either quitting 'independancy' or mixing the two.

1. Not enough business as an independant to pay second rent.

2. Fed up with being on call 24/7. They found they had to more and more to catch the business. An agency can take bookings for them throughout the week.

3. Security. One girl was working from her home on her own and was robbed by her last client of the day taking her mobile, days take and ripping out land line.

4. Winter Blues. Just wanted some company in the dark evenings. Sitting on your own if you're not busy is not all that great.

I am sure any indies who are successful would not dream of taking what they perhaps percieve to be a backwards step professionally. If they're making enough money to cover their second rent. advertising and still enjoying some down time instead of being tied to a phone all day then why should they?

Horses for courses at the end of the day. However we are seeing more coming back to us rather than going full time independant.

I am sure she reported him to the police regarding robbery. Do you know what was an outcome?

But why he ripped her land line? What an arshole! Its easy enough to connect it again, thats why I dont understand why anybody will do something like that?

I don't know: If you not busy, its still so much things to do, never a time to get lonely! I am sure most girls, same as me probably have a pile of books ready, that they wanted to read and never get round to, (because of lack of time) or watch all the programs which they recorded on SKY+, but did not had a time to watch them either.

Failing that: there is always some dust on the skirting boards which need to be attended to. ;)

I work both independently with my own site and at HOD and have done for several years. I prefer to do incalls under the HOD banner and outcalls off my own website but I also have the option of seeing my clients within their premises. This works better for me as having a home and renting a second flat is a total pain in the arse, I have tried it sharing with other girls too but I would not do it again. Also I have another professional job so it just would not be practical to rent alone with a working flat as I would only be avail for incalls one or two days a week and I like weekends to see my friends and family. This may not suit everyone but it works for me and I feel safe and comfortable with the arrangement. There is also the cameraderie aspect. We have such a laugh with the other girls, this really does make a difference.

Olivia: if you only provided outcalls as indie, and not any incals with HOD, do you think it will be enough income for you?

I am very curious, because I know not matter how brilliant girls, there is not much income from outcalls. My friend Lana only provide outcalls, and she might have 1-3 booking per month from the new clients if she is lucky. She still does ok, but only because of regulars.

Its such vast disproportion of bookings between incall and outcalls! Way to much enquiries for incalls, its overwhelming..but in the same time not enough bookings for outcalls. Is that the reason, that you are with HOD?

It's my second income anyways.. whoring.. I used to get loads of incalls enquiries when I was doing my other job and having a break from ho'ing , so much so I took number off my old website as it was doing my head in and I did not want not accomodate. As for outcalls I see a few long term regs a month (at least one overnight) and get a lot of email enquiries from new clients but, as it goes with my other commitments and so forth I only see about 4 a month on average these days as I am often in different parts of the country (London or Manchester) when they want to see me. While I have been up North for a few days this week I have had to turn down 5 outcall bookings.

It isn't easy and it's frustrating because if you are trying to do it on your own , ie , answer the phone, look after yourself and make the guys happy , you simply can't do it all , unless you get someone to answer the phone for you which was never my thing as I preferred to speak to clients myself, to try to ensure I would rock their boat and theirs mine (;))

I used to do agency , I would never go back there, my experience of them is that they don't give a monkeys where they send you as long as they get their quids. Though I do accept there may be agencies out there who look after their ladies.

IMHO agencies are great for a start into the business and by that I don't mean , poach their clients, just simply to get streetwise

If I was a WG, that would be totally worth it. I'm so bad at organizing myself it's not even funny.

Lord, what a question. Both have advantages, depends on your reasons for wanting to do either, and depends on the agency.

I've worked simultaneously as indie and for an agency. The woman who ran the agency would get annoyed at my indie work interfering with hers.

Sometimes she would not call for days. She also would not let me speak directly to clients, except in exceptional circs, and she had issues with remembering directions to my place. This caused no end of probs for me - guys ringing wrong doorbells and asking for me (my working name), wandering around the development looking lost etc.

As an indie, you have to spin your wheels a LOT, especially these days, to get one client. Especially new ones. You have to deal with all the no-shows, phone timewasters, and try to live your life at the same time ie, food shopping, gym, socialising to name a few.

So, there are pros and cons for each. I find dealing with my own hassles, rather than someone else's, even when they take all the bookings and deal with the clients, to be better, even though some days I miss clients because of having to deal with everyday non-work matters.

Having said that, with the agency, I had some mind-blowing jobs (outcalls) at hotels which, let's just put it this way, I felt I needed a bodyguard on the way home with the excess wonga. I could count these jobs on one hand, however, but they all came out of the blue, and were all godsends at the time, but were never predictable. I think a good agency will expose you to more affluent clients, (I even had one celeb - but he was very tight-fisted lol).

In the end, I couldn't deal with the mood swings of the woman who ran the agency, (it was a well-known one), I was having some health problems anyway, I was only with her for about a year and a half, and I'm not sure if I quit, or she sacked me. I'd like to think I quit. :o

Presumably to prevent her from summoning help immediately after his departure.

Guess for some it would be fun to have toes in both pies and have best of both worlds! xox:D Variety is the spice of life!
