That's the news I've been waiting to hear :)

 

The Canadian courts made the right decision, but will the Canadian government now make the right laws? My guess is not, I don't trust Stephen Harper & Co. and hope they get voted out at the next election in favour of a government without such a blinkered attitude towards prostitution.

The federal government has tabled its new prostitution legislation, which targets pimps, customers and others who “exploit” sex workers.

 

The new legislation targets “johns” and pimps, MacKay told reporters: “Those that treat sex services as a commodity.”

Under the bill:
the purchase of sexual services will now be a criminal offence, as will financially benefitting from the exploitation of others through prostitution.

Jimmy Carter offers Canada advice on updating prostitution laws

As the federal government looks to update its prostitution laws, former U.S. president Jimmy Carter is once again urging Parliamentarians to adopt the Nordic model which targets pimps, brothel owners and those who pay for sex rather than the prostitutes themselves.
