Bbc Radio 4 - Moral Maze

2 posts in this topic

This evening's Moral Maze programme on Radio 4 includes discussion of the law surrounding prostitution. It's a debate about 'Victimless Crime' and also covers the laws concerning cannabis and the general area of liberty vs. society, according to the blurb:

It might be worth a listen. It will also be on iPlayer later, I expect.

I sort of understand what the program is trying to do, but I still can't help wishing they didn't automatically lump drugs and hookers under one heading yet again. Also, the exchange of money for sex is not illegal, so why use the word "crime" in the first place. Soliciting, kerb crawling and violence against sex workers are crimes, as is controlling prostitutes i.e. running a brothel or agency, but prostitution is not a crime, victimless or otherwise.
