Reputation Score

91 posts in this topic

I have noticed recently that my reputation score has gradually been falling despite the addition of some favourable up votes and no down votes that I can readily see.

Do the upward and downward votes expire after some time? Maybe this would explain the mystery behind my falling score.

I have a feeling that the more you post about it the more your "rep" will decrease. In answer to that second bit,no,they don't expire. If i was to hazard a guess i'd say that as a person can only rate a post once,if someone was determined to keep rating you down, but you weren't making enough posts daily for then to use their full ten then they may start rating your old posts.
I have to ask though, why do you care so much?

I am bothered about the numbers just like people are about their eBay feedback.

Asianbeast, after your "goodbye to posting" forum, which lasted but a few days before you were fully active again, this forum indicates you have some serious paranoia….or simply a desire to take the piss….

No, there is nobody out there trying to get you.  Out of curiosity, I checked your points and you have far more than most of us, but who gives a damn.

Let's get back to discussing more interesting and productive topics.

AB Don't bother checking. The points matter about as much as the frequency that you change your shirt.

I am also curious as to how the system works, but obviously I am not aiming to stir up trouble as don q puts it.

Lynn, why don't you then take over? Give poor willsmith a well deserved break.

I can't do that....  I am far too nice.

If you really wanted to know how the system worked you could of pm''ed Admin - but you preferred to re-open the already rancid tin of beans. Why?

You have 34 points - so what. They are not like positive AW feedback - not for any moment are any service providers suggesting they won't see customers unless they have a certain amount of rep points on here. Infact if i was a sp (and thank god i am not because i would be skint because i would be far too picky) i would decline from seeing someone who was always moaning - so maybe you are doing yourself no favours here.

Me too. I certainly wouldn't want to see me.

Who, really, cares about their reputation score.

I didn't foresee how my simple query could turn out to be a can of beans (or worms) for certain narrow minded people. A straight forward query such as mine should have deserved a straight forward answer or a simple "sorry, we don't know" type of reply.

Why has this all been so upsetting to everybody? Was my thread that offensive?

Why is there a need for long lectures and advice on how I should avoid being seen as a moaner and how and why escorts should avoid seeing me?

Asianbeast, the only person who appears upset about this is you. I think everyone is just a bit bemused about why it bothers you so much.

From an escorts point of view I'd be concerned about meeting you because all these posts about reputation points are making you come across as rather unstable. I'd be worried you may hold me at knifepoint and make me log into punternet and use up my quota of green arrows for the day :o

Anyone who is obsessed over a 'popularity rating' on an anonymous bulletin board comes across as unstable, paranoid, and OCD.  That's not mean to be nasty,  you are probably a very nice guy,  but it's just how I see it.

Does it really matter?

On a discussion forum others have their own points of view and to expect them to agree with yours, or rate your posts as wonderful everytime is unrealistic.

To be honest I was hardly aware the scoring system had been brought in, when I did it caught my attention for about 5 seconds, then I forgot about it. Very occasionally I'll click on the green or red arrow to show appreciation or sharing of a view, apart from that I don't even know what my own score is.

I'm interested to know how it affects your life on an anonymous forum?

AB, you do seem unduly worried about your rep score. What possible impact can it have on your life?

I am probably going to regret telling you this, but all the info you need about your rep score is already on your profile. If you go to your profile page and then click on the "reputation" link on the left, you can see exactly which posts (every one) of yours that have persuaded anyone to give you a rep point (positive or negative). If you then click on the rep point score for each post it will tell you which people have scored you up or down. It's fairly obvious looking at your list that you have one ardent admirer and one significant detractor (who has marked your posts down as far back as 2012, at least a year before the rep point system was activated lol).

If you can be bothered, you can track who is scoring you from that page, but surely life is too short ? Why not go out and have a nice punt instead of worrying what one person you will never meet thinks of your online persona?

I noticed too my 'reputation points' are going down and when mentioning this to Galahad he said not to worry.  Although in my case probably the reputation points are going down due to the same 3-4 people who 'yawn' yet 'bother' to click me negatively.  Bottom line, there are more important things in life and indeed the best is to ignore any negative actions some people produce.

well this is the thing. When you start clicking peoples reputation points down they notice , then they start noticing things about your posts they dont like and they reciprocate. You can't vote people down then moan they do the same to you can you. Thats like verbally attacking someone on here then running and crying to the mods when they defend themselves and verbally attack back…mind you, that goes on enough here too

I just went and looked at mine.

246

Not a clue what it was last time I looked.

Had a click on the break down, noticed a few who agreed with me, noted, couldn't be bothered to look any further.
