Domain Name Suspended

7 posts in this topic

While I was on holiday, my domain name of my site was suspended. (wwwescort.co.uk).

It was paid until 24.12.2015 (which is also shown on the whois search). Not that it was any violation of the TOC. (another reason for suspension)

I did contacted UK2.net (who registered it), as well as my host. (Lunarpages). Its obviously not the fault of the host company as all my files are still on theirs server.

However after 4 emails to Uk2.net (have not receive reply on any of them) and 2 phone calls to UK2 net, my support ticket its not progressing from the 9th of June. After today chat, they still looking to resolve an issue. (not sure which one!), Its like banging in the locked door, I nearly lost it while I was taking with support guy today.

Did anybody else had the same problem?

Try getting in touch with Nominet

It looks like Nominet need to validate the domain contact details (from the whois entry for your domain):

Thank you, RS.

I did thought it might be a reason.

When I originally registered my domain back in 1999, of course I did gave a fake information (name, address, email, etc), as it was not an option to opt out, if somebody want to search  and see you personal info. (Not sure if Godaddy or similar were in existence then)

My real UK2 details (not Whois detail), was correct since 2004.

I did tried to correct my Whois details (to the real one) few times since 2004 also, but its never was updated. Its never even was updated when I called Uk2.net. CS, and he said he will do it  manually for me.  Anyway: I was not bothered about it. As long as they had my address and email, I did not care about Mickey Mouse address displayed on the whois database, especially when I could not opt out not display it at the time. (10 years ago or so)

I just can not understand, why they did not sent me email, letter, put something on my account page, etc. that my domain is suspended: the reasons for it, and what I should do resolve it.

When I called today to UK2 CS (3rd time), he never gave me any reasons either. Just said me that they still try to resolve an issue. Never even told me a time scale, when I asked: few hours, 24 hours, week, month, year? (ok, I was pushing it, lol, as I was pretty angry at that stage).

Thats the only response I've got.

Hello Xenia,

Thank you for contacting UK2.NET Support. As per our conversation on the phone, I am creating a ticket regarding the issue of your domain being suspended. I am escalating this up to our 2nd Line support, as this is an issue that they can resolved rather than 1st Line support. Please bear with us while we work on this.

Thanks in advance for your patience!

James Funk

WTF is a difference between the 1st Line and 2nd Line Support?

Thanks again, Brussel Sprout.  :P

Second line tech support are more experienced and take over the query if first line tech support (usually the first engineer you speak with on the 'phone) can't immediately solve the issue.

Let us hope that your problems are just technical and or administrative (like having a problem with e.g. Santander  ) rather than the result of some nonsense about suspending the websites of escorts ( I have been told that Harperson went around scaring local newspapers about the possible consequences of advertising "personal services" in 2009 during the run up to the Policing and Crime Bill of 2009).

It is administrative issue. If somebody did had a problem with content of my website, then the hosting company will block it.

The problem is I can't supply original details when I registered.

This is reply I got from Nominet.

Dear (name removed)

Thank you for requesting access to Online Services.  Before we can accept your request we need some further information from you.

Please could you send me written confirmation of your request on your company's letterhead.

The letter needs to state the domain name and the new email address that you want us to use.

The letter should also be signed by one of the directors or an authorised signatory for the business.

Please scan and email the letter directly to me, or fax it for my attention to 01865 332288.

Once I receive your confirmation letter I can then accept your request or advise you further if more information is needed.

Please note that this case will be closed and no action taken if we do not receive the information requested by 16 July 2014.  If you want to gain access to Online Services at a later date you will need to submit a new request.

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Kind regards,

David Terry

Nominet UK is a company limited by guarantee and registered in England

under No. 3203859.  Our registered office is Minerva House, Edmund Halley

Road, Oxford Science Park, Oxford, OX4 4DQ, England.

Of course i can't supply confirmation with a company letterhead, because "company" never existed in the first place, which I told them during the conversation. (Nominet, as well as UK2" could not do anything about it either).

Its just a catch 22 situation: Uk2 can't change  my details because domain is suspended, and Nominet can't update whois database, because UK2 net cant change it either.

When I called Nominet yesterday, I was given a link to validate my contact details. I did so, and paid £12. Today they refund it it, and he said it was a wrong advise by theirs colleague.

Ah well, looks like I am going to loose this domain. I can register an alternative one, and I am sure its not going to be a problem to point DNS to the new domain with Lunarpages, which is my hosting company.

Its just will cost extra money, plus time to email various escort directories to change the links.
