Independence Vote, Will It Affect Punting

24 posts in this topic

( sigh, awaiting lessons on the use of effect and affect).

So, this time tomorrow we may be splinting into two new countries. Would this effect punting? Will there be a rush of escorts and punters over any new border. Will prices go up or down? Will the relaxing of immigration north of the border bring in more foreign escorts?

Or is the punting hobby/business/addiction independent neutral?

Perhaps but there is no point worrying till something happens. I remember I didnt have a clue there was a credit crunch on,  most clients didnt have a clue there was a credit crunch on as things were normal and busy as ever..till the paper announced it at the bloody weekend and the following monday was dead. No point worrying or scaremongering till what happens threatens to happen. The votes are not even in yet x

Nothing noticeable in the immediate future, but some years ahead things will kick in. More to do with what the Scots won't choose to do affecting the English in some way or other. There will be a lot more politics and voting for various things. The countries of the UK may well get quite political.

If the Scots don't vote yes now, I should expect the SNP will up its game somehow. But they will keep at it.

As far as punting goes, there is quite a lobby against it in Scotland, and I would expect something to restrict the practice. So scots quines may come across the border looking for work.

Well this is true but I doubt escorts who have families who live in scotland are going to up and move to england if they ban it up there. The free and single girls have that option if they wish too but Im sure that even if things were made more difficult legally for the ladies of scotland they would be troopers and find a way as lets face it, guys are not going to leave the country to have a lunchtime bonk plus of course whilst the foreign ladies may leave and go to the rest of the UK the ladies who are from there or settled there will become more in demand as others leave

I think there is a history of border brothels. The malays slip over into Thailand for a bonk and many years ago the Franco era Spanish slipped into France for a bit of gallic shenanigans.

Trust me, you can STEP over it ;)

I saw a scot lady when she toured Carlisle (From Falkirk)

Great tits, large nipples, great interaction and the most hypnotic perfume!

Not much help to those in bute and argyll though eh, it'd be faster for them to go whoring on the islands than get to the border

Even if there is a Yes vote, the punting rules won't change.

Scotland and England/Wales already have separate law systems. The rules regarding punting are already different. Please don't ask me the differences - I'm not that clued up. I live in Scotland but usually punt in England.

There are even different rules (I think more accurately, different levels of tolerance) regarding massage parlours in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

So things will go on being the same as before. Except you may have to change your £s into Scottish Groats. Or perhaps with such a backward step we should re-adopt Pieces of Eight as an appropriate currency.

On the plus side for you English types, a Scottish currency collapse would mean cheaper punting.

We are still tied together. But the pirate in me loved the idea of paying in pieces of eights.

Ha ha, with all this issue out of the way, your efforts might be desperately needed in Gaza.

Snp are well known for their intelligent and tolerant approach to commercial sex, the parties that have a problem are labour, cos they have to satisfy the hairy legged feminists wing, plus the catholics,. The conservative are also against prostitution as they stand for "family values". The liberals also have the feminist monkey on their backs, and of course all wgs are trafficked, or are desperate single mothers.

The referendum looks like it will result in more devolution for Scotland but on the other hand Scottish MPs may lose their right to vote on matters that affect only England and Wales  - about time I would say!!

This will make it harder for Labour to get the majority it would need to criminalise prostitution in E&W, should it decide to go down that route.

As far as I know the antis are very much a minority among the Tories and LibDems. They are much more influential in the Labour party - although there are some Labour politicians who have made it clear that they oppose criminalisation.

What leads you to believe neither the Conservatives nor Lib Dems will criminalise prostitution? If they detect enough support from the public for such a policy, especially in swing seats leading up to any major election, then they quite probably will.

And now the French go over the border for a bonk in Spain.  There were several threads on the Rest of the World board detailing this a few years ago.

The French have all but given up smoking these days but will drive many kilometres for a bonk.

I don't think this is fair.  The Scottish majority has spoken.  The rest of the world that has a problem, as I discovered in several political Forums, whether they are based in Australia or US, the Middle East or anywhere else, they might have spoken negatively purely because they have their own personal issues.  You cannot assume that everyone in the UK is a Kavos addicted person.

Because of the position their MPs took in 2009 on the current legislation perhaps?

Or the way their MSPs voted on the criminalisation proposal in Scotland?
