Don't criminalise our clients

9 posts in this topic

As I'm diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, I don't want to criminalise prostitution just like the 'Swedish model', the reasons why I am against the new proposals is to book escorts to boost my confidence and have sex once a week and it is a healthy lifestyle and also, sex is a stress-buster.

Pia, I backed your support against the criminalisation of buying sex just like in Sweden and decriminalise prostitution instead in order for men with Asperger's Syndrome, Autism, Spina Bifida, Down's Syndrome and other disabilities to use escorts to gain their sexual confidence, lose their virginity or whatever.

Most British subjects are, in one form or another, controlled for gain, but apparently a sex worker's consent to work through the agency of another is to be illegal and worse, clients are to be expected to know the personal working arrangements of the sex worker he/she/they are visiting

So if you buy a shirt or a pair of trainers, are you epected to check to make sure they havent been made using slave labour in some factory in India? All amounts to the same thing under "control for gain"

Yes, and if you like cockles, you'll be wanting to ensure they haven't been picked by trafficked workers too :P

Some manufacturers do make statements about fair conditions of the workforce. WGs could give some protection to their clients and hence their income if they could give similar assurances.

Faced with strict liability under a vaugely worded law punters who want to continue should be thinking about risk management and damage limitation. It would increase my feeling of security if on a visit to a WG she could produce a document, bearing her photograph and trading name with a uique number, certifying that :

She had produced proof of identity to the certifyer

She is a legal

Dear moderator, either my post was to long or I pressed the wrong key and submitted before I had comleted. Premature documentation. I had wanted to continue with:

She has proof of age being older than 18,20,22 and so on.

She has access to medical treatment on the NHS

She has demonstated freedom to travel, associate with whomsoever she wishes and to enter into and terminate legal contracts.

She has sworn, in the prsence of the C of Oathes and free of coercion, that she is not illegally controlled for gain.

Certification will be a problem but it should be possible to persuade the appropiate authority for a fee to carry out the interrogation, issue the certificate and post a unique identity number on a website. The WG could use this No. in her advert.

I have areputation for complicted an d sometimes imracticable solutions but my aim is to provoke sme discussion which could lead to a workable even if imperfect system.
