Just after a bit of advice from anyone in the know.

I've agreed to set up a couple of websites for an escort I know very well.

However, it's just dawned on me that I don't really know the legalities of what you can and can't do !

What can you include on the site ?

What can't you include ?

What should you not say ?

The obvious ones are 'No nudity' and no mention of the 'actual' services being offered.

Anyone offer any other suggestions ?

Thanks in advance.

Which country are you in? (I'm not being sarcastic: the repliers will need to know, as laws differ.)

A lot will depend on the hosting company, but as far as I'm aware for web sites there are no laws against nudity nor mentioning the services on offer.

However, there will be far more knowledgeable folk along shortly, I'm sure.

Surely the best thing to do is to have a glance at some of the hundreds of  UK based escort websites that are easily accessible through this site??

Don't use a free moonfruit site: nude pics and reciprocal banner ads are out. Make sure you have an 18+ warning on the front page, and safest to keep pics on the tamer side.

So you're making her a website on a business you know nothing about! Lucky her!

It isn't that obvious because nudity is OK and services can be mentioned!

Why don't you get her to look at saafe and read up all the good advice there is on escort websites.

Mine is on moon fruit, it isnt free, its just free for the first two weeks before it goes live so you have time to perfect it. I would say moon fruit is the perfect platform actually for them.

a) its cheap

 first two weeks before activation are free

c)you can have as many free websites as you like on the go getting it just right and if you dont like them then you cancel the so they dont go live.

d)you get a web address

e)you get email adress depending on which package you wish for

f) you can pay monthly , 6 monthly or yearly

g) its easy as piss

h) its very versatile regarding what you can do on there

i) there is a forum to discuss ideas and issues

j) you can transfer over as many of your own domain names as you choose, you dont have to stick to the moon fruit one.

k) I have reciprocal banners on my front page

l) there is a feature to add html chunks if you so wish (such as aw link to feedback box)

As I said, mines on moon fruit, never had a single problem apart from when I forget to pay the bill and even then the dont whip it straight offline for another two weeks and its easy payment and immedaite reactivation. Of course Im no web expert so my websites isnt perfect.

Yeah, in the UK, prostitution is legal, so therefore it's legal for a WG to advertise on the web.

Also, i'm sure you know this already, make sure her domain whois profile is private and locked. Last thing she needs is for people to look up her real name and billing address.

Any nudity should be tasteful, as KayHerts mentioned before a legal disclaimer warning minors and that photos are of the lady is over 18, etc should be put on an intro page before anyone enters the site.

My advice is not to show the private bits (nipples etc) in case that years later she might move the site to a new hosting company or even the current company might change their policy.  About the rest info needed, there is so much to talk about........ The worst idea I can think is to search the hundreds of websites out there with lots of contradicting info, according to their own interpretation........... Better stick to reading the info on forums.

It is interesting that you are all assuming the women in question want their website all nice and refined and 'tasteful'. For all we know they could specialise in PSE, BDSM or go down the slutty cum slut route, in which case coy pictures won't really work.

The main thing is that they know their market and choose pictures and text accordingly!

Such snobbery here...

Lol..so true, nothing wrong with a bit of tit and ass either if thats what the lady wants, its not against the law.

Agreed, but the simple fact of the matter is you have to be careful with a more hardcore site. Complications such as domain server policies, ever widening obscene acts and international pornography laws have to be complied to.

Better to play it safe or do some serious research and or consult a lawyer, anything other than a PN forum.

I think if we forum users were snobs, none of us would be here! lol

Not snobbery Lydia, but the new pornography laws! Better safe than sorry...

Easy to judge, but he may design websites for lots of other businesses in real life and actually might be good at his job? Hard to say of course, i'm speculating but that'd be the main criteria or that she's getting it cheap. lol

The adult industry is a mine field so website designers will definitely need to research properly before jumping in. Hence his post. :)

Snobbery or not, you've got to be careful about what you put on your website these days.

Yes but if you had experience you'd know the legalities of adult photos and if you can or cannot use certain pictures.

Even I know that and my website for my own business in Civvy life has nothing to do with the adult industry.

I doubt he is experienced in designing websites, more so he's done it before mentionined it to a WG and maybe offered to build one for her at a cheap price/free meeting and she's obliged.

It happens a lot in this work trust me, but most are just after discount lol.

You doubter! But you're possibly quite right. :)

People have gotta start and learn somewhere. Be a little generous and give the man a hand with some insider advice.

After all this place is about sharing information and caring about the community, right? lol

I do find it ridiculous that some people don't invest properly in their businesses. A lot of WG's build their own websites and understandably so...it's quite easy these days using wix or moonfruit or wordpress. But some websites i've come across (not literally) are actually quite outdated, including some so called 'top' agencies. A lot are still very web 1.0.

:)

I totally agree with you.

I see very standard basic websites for great top agencies and top WGs and think they could do better!

Me personally haven't got a website yet as I'm retiring temporarily so would be pointless!

Pointers? Haha. The fact is it's really simple!

With the new regulations basically no squirting o spanking.

You can write what the hell you want on YOUR website it's your choice. But make sure the website is addressed that is for adults only with the "enter" "leave" page.

Pictures and how you describe yourself is up to you.

Navigation on a website should be sleek and easy so that people with little experience online can get around easily.

Making it too fancy will make it complicated, it is actually a piece of cake once you know the basics! X

yes but professional website designers make websites for business's that they have no clue about all the time. Their business is making websites not knowing all about the companys business who hired them. If they only made websites for the business they know about then they would have no websites to make

I thought extreme porn should be behind some age verification. That generally means a credit card. A "this site is for adults only" is not enough as any child can click through.

You should have something in the html header to say its adult content so parental filters can block it.

What a ridiculous conclusion !

I'm actually a web developer - my question only relates to what can and can't be put on the website.
