1980's

19 posts in this topic

I'm writing a book about my 'punting' days in Birmingham. I attended Birmingham University in Selly Oak from 1975 to 1978, having graduated with a degree in psychology. The book will include descriptions of venues, not only parlours, but also private houses and apartments in the Birmingham suburbs. I will include my experiences with pornography, adult shops and cinemas in the city and methods of 'punting'. I regard punting in the 1980's as being a golden age, and although I no longer live in the City, if I pass through I often endeavor to re-capture the experiences. Back in that decade the scene was largely untainted by sex trafficking, and you would always find English girls working in the parlours, and from private addresses. I had never actually punted from the street, even though I ventured down Rotton Park Road, Cheddar Road (One dreadful punt), and Moseley. One of my first punts was in Moseley, but from a private flat off the Wake Green Road. So, if anyone is of the same age and generation, I'd appreciate a kindred spirit, male or female who started punting or working in the same era. I'd also like some ideas for a title, witty and humorous would be good!

Title :

Chasing The Girls On The Game In Brum

Confessions of a student

Some years ago when there were street girls in and around Balsall Heath, 4 of us went over in the car. Two of our friends hadn't been to that area before and wanted 'to take a look.'

It was a bitterly cold evening about 10:00pm when we saw one of the girls standing on the edge of the pavement. She was wearing THE shortest skirt and a scarf wrapped around her face from the nose down to keep out the cold!

Anyway, we pulled up by her and one of our friends wound down the window and asked sheepishly if she was doing business. She lowered the scarf so she could speak and replied, "No.I'm waiting for a fucking sun-tan!"

Ah! Those were the days!

If I might interject. It seemed to me, that having punted for three decades, the eighties seemed like a golden age, and there are reasons for this, so what I'm trying to ascertain is whether there is a collective memory about that time, given that most of the venues, (parlours) that I used back then are still in use. Whilst there have been some witty replies about the title of the book, (it may just turn out to be a blog...and then maybe a book, there are precedents). In my mind, Birmingham was unique in providing places for sexual liaison, back then I was a student, and lived in the City a little while before finding employment elsewhere. It's clear that Vivsluvsme has a handle on the subject and has already made positive contributions to this forum. One of the issues about punting today is how 'controlled' it is, with regard to trafficking, it's clear that there is an influx of working girls from the EU and Asia. This was not the case back in the 1980's and I would also say that there were more genuine women working out of private homes and apartments back then. Look at AW now and do a survey on how many are either Czech, Polish or of some other EU origin. One of my most memorable punts in a parlour that was then called 'Good Lookers' was with a girl who was from West Bromwich, and she had a black country accent, utterly charming, enthusiastic, natural with no body enhancement or tattoos. The same parlour is now full of Romanian girls, judging by recent posts of visits in this forum. I sound like a member of Ukip! But I can assure you that I am not, I detest trafficking and the people that are profiting from it.

Surely 'the same parlour' is no longer in existence and hasn't been for decades? I think you may be mixing up First Class and Good Lookers.

It's now First Class, was Good Lookers when I visited three times in the 1980's, opposite Aldi in Selly Oak. (Or was it the Naughty Nineties, ;-)?)

Now I know why you are asking for help!

How do the titles you put forward relate to your statement? No mention of Birmingham, the era, the subject even!

No, never visited her, but Madame Paula in Edgbaston was by favoured 'dominatrix' back in those days..

I remember Cecile, she was still active until 2011, I saw her from 2008 by which time she was working out of a flat in City Centre of Brum, I saw her as a Domme which she excelled at but was very sensual and not all a hardcore Mistress. She was amazing and we shared some very special times, I saw her near monthly for 4 years and we built up a very close D/s relationship...but she disappeared in 2011, I understand from a little research she passed away from cancer in 2014 just 55 yrs old....
