Please Make Sure You Vote Today!

25 posts in this topic

Hey you all

Please make sure that you vote today.  People gave up their lives and freedom to give us the right to do this.

You have until May 10th for postal votes and up to 10 pm tonight for the ballot.  This is the most unpredicable and interesting election in recent years with the polls saying noone will win an outright majority so every vote does REALLY count.

I cast my vote make sure that you cast yours

think I will stay up late and watch in unfold, not been interested for many a year, be interesting to see if Jimmy Krankies SNP sweeps the board, I drove up to Aberdeen last week and the only parties posters I saw was SNP.

A bit of local interest for me in the local parrish elections, my old primary school teacher is standing, so he got my vote, and in the council elections the person in the house next door who annoy us when they helicopter in party bigwigs, were standing, begrudgingly got my vote dispite my argument with her about her local bin men being unable to clear up the mess they make outside my home.

Well the exit poll will have Cameron back with Lib Dem collaboration and slightly worryingly from a civilized person viewpoint, DUP support! But surely the gobshite ugly threesome of Milliband, Mad Hattie and Cooper are gone and that's great!

A good result for our Business/hobby!

Yvette Cooper could be next Red Tory leader, but surely thy're not so daft as to do that! Surely, Harman is gone now, surely!

Great Result  Very happy .  UKIP made good ground and the Torries have a majority.  My only worry is that Hariett Harman may go for leader of Labour!!!

Did not vote myself. There is something fundamentally wrong with a system that give the SNP 55 seats from 1.4 million votes and UKIP 1 seat from 3.8 million votes....that is just mad.

My vote counted for nothing.

I'm in a Lib Dem lock down. The local Lib Dems trade on tactical voting, which in my opinion is a dirty tactic. Luckily I'm moving to a different constituency where my vote will count.

Surely they also fought for the right for us NOT to vote if we so choose, otherwise if we are being ordered to do something then somewhere the freedom has been lost?

Any individual in a safe seat could argue that their vote counted for nothing, even if the candidate they voted for won.

Providing not voting is done as a reasoned decision I would defend your right not to vote.  The problem is that most of the non voters just can't be arsed and that is bad.

I'd support it being made mandatory.  Those that choose not to vote can just not fill out the ballot paper.  Tell the world if you like.

It's never that I can't be arsed!! I just don't see any of them as fit for purpose for one thing, but also people say vote for who represents you and your ideals but in the parties there are parts you think are right but many parts I feel against. It merely seems to come down to which parties offer the least evil deeds to deliver  And then you would have to hope they actually delivered on what they promised that you agreed with and not just prove their claims were merely vote-grabbing rhetoric!!

Yes....I know I am very cynical

If you can only bring yourself to support a party with no policies you're unhappy about you'll have to start your own.  Probably have to limit the membership to one as well.

I think if you do not want to vote then thats your choice but do not sit there and moan when decesions get made you do nlot like or something happens locally that effects you.  You gave up the right to moan about politics when you could not be fkd to vote!

Not so. I don't vote because I think there is not a single politician worth anything. It's all about what an MP can can out of the system, how much money or power they can gain, not how they can represent the whole of their seat and get the best for them in Westminster.

I did not sign anything that gave up my right to moan.....and I do it very well

I can think of several excellent constituency MPs who work extremely hard in a very unassuming way. It's a shame that that the general perception of politicians clouds the work of some genuine public servants. Without trying at all hard I can think of a number from across the political divide either where I have lived or whom I have met who just don't fit that caricature and are respected by constituents of all political persuasions or none
