To follow up on the above article, a judge put a restraining order on the Cook County Sheriff who lobbied the credit card companies which started this whole ridiculous saga. Full article below.

I don't think it will restore the vision of those that advocate these laws because I don't think they are blind in the first place.  I know I keep banging on about it but they are just anti sex workers and anti sex buyers, full stop.

The organisations that really try to do something about human trafficking etc. can present all the evidence they want but it will be ignored by these people as it doesn't help their (barley hidden) agenda.

It's something I've not really looked into but probably should... but I wonder how much work the anti-sex trade brigade do into trying to combat human trafficking and exploitation in other areas - industries where it is actually as prevalent if not more so than in the sex trade?

Hi Robert as I'm new to this site & forum I have no knowledge of you banging on about anything lol

I agree with you about the groups who are anti sex workers & anti buyers, indeed these groups are mostly anti sex fullstop.

I meant more the general public who just read a headline or fabricated/exaggerated story about all escorts being trafficked & all clients being pimps & accept it as is without really knowing anything about the escort industry.

As I have worked mostly in Ireland, I know first hand about agenda's, Ruhama being the biggest offender.

Before the law was passed in Northern Ireland. Studies were done by academics on the effectness of the swedish model, they proved it was not effective in curbing demand or in stopping trafficking yet it was completely ignored by the politicians because it didnt suit their agenda.

Quite.  In the area of domestic service and agriculture I'm sure there are far more individuals being treated almost as slaves.

Perhaps "banging on" is a bit strong but I have mentioned it a few times.

The above story was barely touched on by the media yet they continue on a regular basis to post that every escort who works in Ireland & Northern Ireland are trafficked. Without any arrests or evidence to prove their claims.

Its so sad that they put escorts, like myself, who work by choice under the trafficked umbrella. Unfortunately the vast majority of society believes the bullshit that they read.

The people really affected by these false reports are the minority of escorts who really are trafficked & in desperate situations.

I really cant get my head around it & my heart goes out to them.

Its mentioned all the time on the Irish forums, I thought it was common knowledge to clients & escorts. Its the general public who dont seem to get it.
