Has Aw Killed Off Other Sites?

75 posts in this topic

It seems there are very few escorts who are not on AW now as that seems to be the main way of finding an escort, some will also have their own site as well which I see as a plus point but how many of us look to sites like Northern Angels now or use Google to search "escorts in xxxx"?

I wonder if any of the girls have carried out research as to now new clients find them?

I only know one girl who has her own site and is not on AW but she is long established and has a loyal group of regulars.

As a punter, I only use AW for finding escorts.

I haven't used anything else for, perhaps, more than 10 years.

If a lady has her independent website in addition to AW profile, that's fine, but necessary. Most independent websites download slowly. They

contain unnecessary flashes here and there. It's actually a form of art to design an alluring and, yet, informative website.

If the information on her independent website has mismatches with those on her AW profile (e.g., activities, price), that is a BIG MINUS

for me. I do not visit such ladies even if the differences are slight. It's an issue of trust for me.

Also some ladies add on their independent sites reviews from their clients.

Are you joking ? Where it is impossible to place a negative review, why should we believe positive reviews on these independent sites ?

The vast majority of ladies I've seen have been booked via AW, especially in the last 10 years. A great set of reviews on PN and other sites help me make my mind up. The two types of site work in tandem. I also try to find a great review then look them up on AW too.

It's rare I do a google search for escorts, but I think agencies are still going strong; they actually do spend quite a lot of money on their websites and SEO.

I think it's always good for indies to have their own website, as they can also advertise on other adult database sites too. Agree, the majority are cheap 'flash' template based ones, which are bad news for mobile browsing. Most probably don't update them either, simply because they might not have the time or resources to.

That is true, the question is: do you bother with Google to be on their first pages for a while and then be moved to page 28 if you do not pay their high advertising fees?  The other sites might be OK but they do not have AW's 'power'.  Maybe in the future there will be a different site to attract lots of girls, so now they can enjoy their 'moment'.  Nothing lasts forever.

I tend to only ever use adultwork.  Although it does offer some good features, I don't like the site.  The worst thing it ever did was the introduction of the private gallery which has opened the door to a myriad of scammers.  I use it because it has a dominant position.

So in answer to the question, yes it has killed off other sites for me.

Annabelle does make a very good point though.  Maybe in the future it will be a different site.

Any site that offers poor customer service, and who charges the ladies who the chargeable services quite a lot of money is ripe for usurping.

Anyone up for the challenge?  I wouldn't know where to start.

I get most of my website hits via google. Most non hobbyist type punters have no idea where to start so do start searching for an escort via google.

As far as bookings I try to ask my clients where they find me and it's about 40% AW, 40% via google to my website or another directory and 20% via searching directories including PN.

Of course might be different for other escorts.

I used to have a separate aw phone and another phone I used only on my website and other directories. The phones tended to take turns in being busy so I know aw is not the only site used. I get a fair number of emails through the pnet database too.

I think most guys go through aw for usage at some point but not all guys then continue to use it after a while and a few rip offs. Ive had plenty tell me they no longer use it or use it only as a cross reference because of the high number of dodgy women on there.

I ran an offer on my aw a couple of weeks ago, not a single taker, put into Twitter and again nothing, put it into my website and had a few takers.

Guys look all over the place for us.

Indeed. I think cross referencing is the key to successful punting and using AW. TOFTT is a risky and expensive habit, plus it puts you off punting.

Nice to see ladies using google & their websites and generating business from it :)

I've used only Adultwork for some years now. It makes sense: it's got the largest coverage and it's got a known format, so I can select the services/attributes I want and the search facility picks only those that might interest me. There's also the feedback: I can see what other punters think of the WG and she can see what other WGs think of me!

One minor thing about AW profiles that irks me: WGs who put things like " this Saturday afternoon" or "...until next Wednesday" on their profiles but don't state a date! Some of the time it might be possible to work out what date is meant by looking at 'Last logged in' but it would be clearer to put "Thursday 10th & Friday 11th" or whatever.

Thats because putting dates on your profile is actualy against the rules and can get your profile deactivated till you remove them. I know a lot of women DO put dates but they have only been lucky so far not to have been noticed. I put two dates on my profile and had it deactivated by adultwork who explained that dates are agains the rules.

I had

coventry *enter date*

london *enter date*

The rules state you have to use the availability calender, the availability system and the tour dates and holiday dates section etc

It irks me also as now if I put dates on they will be able to say "we already notified you of this" so will be viewed by aw as willfull rule breaking on my part despite virtualy every second profile on there having dates splashed all over them left right and center.

Perhaps you could put in a complaint to aw and ask for us to be allowed to state dates

As an agency we are limited as to how we can use AW or perhaps it is a lack of working knowledge on our part.

Last month we had 200k visitors to our website which is an average month. This bares no resemblance to actual physical visitors to our establishment sadly. Over 60% of those visitors came from Punternet and the 'other' forum. 30% from twitter and 10% from actual Google searches.

In any walk of life it's natural for there to end being one monster player in the market e.g. Google for searches, Rightmove for property etc. People want the convenience of knowing there's one resource they can go to in order to get all the info they are looking for and natural competition tends to sift out competitiors until there are only one or two - at which point it becomes something of a trade off between the convenience and the risk of abuse of monopoly by the front runners.

As mentioned above I think if people are loyal and happy with the service of particual SPs they will check their personal websites as a matter of course, otherwise probably 99% of people head straight for AW these days, for better or worse?

It will be interesting to see how aw use is affected if this new Ohlala app comes to the UK. Most of my bookings are made on the day which I think is what it will be used more for. Currently only in Berlin for testing

I get 50% of my clientele from Google and other directories. Google have never asked me for a bean, I wasn't aware that they charged.

I think if you sign up to certain Google seo things such as Adwords there can be charges

Ok, I've never paid any and I hear that high listings are possible without SEO or adwords or anything else. In fact I'm not even sure adwords even exist at the moment.

Really?!

I have an availability tab with the current week's dates and times. Always have (6 years) and it's never been mentioned and nor have I read anything to say you can't. Though tbh I haven't read the rules of late!

The rule is no dates or times or 'availability' in the profile summary which is the line above details when editing your profile, and which appears under your main photo in a search. You can put dates and times whereever you like in the remainder of your wording.

Putting days or dates in the summary (sometimes known as strapline) which appears in a main search, is against the rules.

You don't need to use paid Adwords to get decent SEO. A good simple, easy to navigate website, with good headings, pictures, lots of relevant text, good quality links to other platforms like AW and other database sites all help add up. Adwords does help get seen, but there's no guarantee of value for money from it. Most people block adverts anyway. Use Googles webmaster tools to check your websites SEO too! You can track your analytics (no that's not an arse disease hehe), via google too, for free - just have to register for it and stick a bit of code on your website so google can track it.

Please no more flash websites - flash is dead in the water and should be avoided like the plague as they don't work on mobiles/tablets. Try to make your website work well on mobile/tablets too. As we've been hearing in the press lately, mobile surfing has overtaken standard desktops.

Re: AW, didn't there used to be availability section, where you could see the days she's working, during the following 1 or 2 weeks?

I'm sure, most escorts do. However I had just re activated my account as a service provider after it being hidden as a service seeker for two years so I guess they took a look at it and that's when I got the notice that I had broken the rules regarding dates. If you email back the automated emas after a few times you get an actual human who tells you what rule because I always used to have dates on mine too

Then I guess you should let aw know that as I didn't have dates in my summery. Perhaps they don't know their own rules or perhaps it's changed again. It's what aw themselves told me so I go by them

The web links at the top of Google search in the highlighted boxes are paid for I believe, you can get to the top by hits alone unless someone else has paid to be there
