STD Advice. NHS vs Privatised Clinics. Who do you trust?

2 posts in this topic

Hi there

I understand that a lot of W/G Escorts will offer bareback sex if guys have an STD Certificate.

I first heard about STD Certs when watching a Documentary about USA Porn and the Ex-porn Star Doctor who screens 98% of Porn Actors who work within the Adult Entertainment World.

I found a clinic in the UK that self admittently does certs for "professionals" (but at a price).

I thought it was an awesome idea and thought "why doesn't EVERYONE get an STD Certificate to help prevent the spread of STDs as you know who is healthy and who isn't?"

At my last NHS (National Health Service) GUM clinic test everything was ok. I asked if they did Certificates and they said no.

The reason being is; if someone in the pool has "heat of the moment" sex with someone outside of the pool who is HIV Positive or has an STD that Certificate is worthless.

Also I asked about Safe Sex and could you get an STD from Unprotected Oral Sex.

Apparently a guy should wear a Condom if recieving and a woman should wear a "Dental Dam" across her Vagina when she is recieving too.

Hmm, can anyone say which one is right?

As for certificates they can only say what was or was not found at the time you were tested. They cannot say what you caught an hour after you walked out of the clinic. Moverover some tests, notably those for HIV only turn postive 3 weeks to 3 months after infection (the period depends on the particulat type of test). In other words the certificate isn't worth the paper it is printed upon, but some countries may ask for one if you are going to work there, so some clinics will provide them.

The topic of what you can and can't catch by oral sex has been covered extensively in previous threads.
