Whats Your Browser?

19 posts in this topic

Having some issues with IE which I am investigating but it may well be coming from perhaps my security software, in the mean time what flavor of Browser do you prefer?

What works for you?

What works best with Windows 7?

Used to be Mozilla Firefox but I ended up with a couple of issues and have been on Google Chrome for some years now. Gets a bit heavy on CPU on some sites but generally very good. Can't stand IE

IE is probably the worst, most out of date browser out there. Use Firefox or Chrome - both much faster, safer and more secure especially on W7. Didn't Microsoft re-vamp IE into a newly branded browser for Windows 10? Even so, i'd stick to third party browsers.

I personally use Safari for my day to day browsing on my mac as it links up nicely with my iphone. I use only firefox with many addons including ghostery, adblocker plus & script blocker for punting stuff.

Google Chrome mostly for me but some videos don't play in Chrome (something to do with Silverlight compatibility) so then switch to Firefox.

Edge is the new IE, I think. I am on W10 but have kept to Chrome. I think I moved to it from Firefox when I read it was lighter on CPU load (but the view above is no doubt better informed).

I had gone onto Firefox from IE when I read it was much less susceptible to virus attack but I also think I read some uncomplimentary things about it at the time I moved to Chrome, but my mind may have invented that.

For all work related stuff on iPad I use SavySoda, because it auto deletes my browsing history. Otherwise firefox.

you can set firefox to do that

go into the menu (3 bars top right), take options.  select security from the menu on the left. select never remember history from the drop down box.

seems to run as if in incognito  mode

Issues with IE??? IE IS the issue. I truly fail to  understand how anyone can even get a page to load on EI..honestly, its a joke, takes about ten minutes per page on my lappy. I use Mozilla which is okayish but at least the pages load and if Mozilla is having an off day then I use Opera, if they are all having an off day I use the safari I downloaded in desperation one particularly offish off day

I use IE,its an old version however as i don't allow upgrades as i'm using a "vintage" machine and newer versions are a tad memory hungry. That does cause problems with certain websites, for those i use firefox.

Firefox, with a few add-ons like No-script, and the 'erase' settings as mentioned by Coventrypunter. IE's still around on the machine, but I don't use it now.

Mind you, when my XP finally dies I shall have a whole series of new problems.

IE is absymal - having one tab open slows my laptop; 2-3 and it virtually dies, affecting every other programme too.

I like Firefox best and think it's the fastest/sturdiest, but I use Chrome as well; as I have e.g. two Twitter accounts (escort and personal), I do all my online escorting stuff in Chrome and everything else in Firefox.

chrome - especially for the "incognito" option

fast, reliable, easy to bring passwords and favourites over to any new device.

Chrome...but seem to have an issue with UK punting site...just get message saying "unsupported protocol"

Anyone else got this problem, if so what's the fix?

The fix is abandon the SP-hating site that wants them treated like sex slaves.

Often posts make me shiver with distaste and fear for the less streetwise SPs out there.

Safari for business. Chrome for leisure. Firefox for *ahem* punting stuff.

Chrome with the Adblock extension added makes for excellent browsing.

SRWare is a lighter version of Chrome that I use on a laptop.

Both are able to utilise the excellent 'search image on Google' extension, which kicks arse over TinEye!
