PIP and punting

32 posts in this topic

So after a few comments on one of the New Year Resoution  on financial restraint as opposed to getting into debt through punting

My rules after paying the normal standing orders Utilities, council tax, Sky tv, mortgage, mobile, insurances, petrol, x etc. Next come, money for tax and self assesment, then looking after future, Pension,  Property, ISA's, and then punting, set at no more than 3% of  income. My  rule, I can not spent more than 3% of my earnings on punting in any given 3 months.

Do others have similar ways of managing their hobby?

I don't know if I'm terribly irresponsible, incredibly rich, or not just particularly enterprising as a punter, but I don't find my punting expenses make such a hole in my pocket that I have to think about it. But, having thought about it for a moment, I'm sure I spend more than 3% of my income on it.

For clarity, would that be 3% of net income, 3% gross income?

It's a treat that's it, never comes a priority over important out goings and not even my disposable income as I need coin for other civilian activities. I can only afford it a few times a year. I'll never be able to afford to develop punting a regular girl. I turn 40 next month, saved up 400 in the last two months to punt with as a present to myself but I'll not do that again for years if ever.

I don't really think about it.  You can't take it with you.

Did anyone read the story of the journalist who blew £15k on escorts?Saw the error of his ways, confessed all to his family and friends and turned his back on punting. Easy for someone like that to blame the sex trade rather than just admit he's crap with money. To blow 15k savings on punting is stupid in itself.

For me, meeting escorts costs much 'less' than having a girlfriend or wife, so I'm very happy with this.

I like the freedom that comes from paying to see each escort.  These girls allow me to have fun, then they allow me to 'walk away' without any ties!  These girls are awesome in my eyes!

Precisely why I started punting. For me there is no thrill in chasing civvy girls or flirtation. A friend of mine who's settled really misses the thrill of the chase. I just don't get it. When I want to fuck, I want it, I don't want to have to chase after it.

A friend of mine was once offered no strings sex by a young female work colleague. He was full of bravado etc. That is until he wanted to call time on it once he'd had his fill. That's when the mind games started - threats of false pregnancy, threatening to tell her mum what had been going on etc. There's no such thing as free sex.

I have spent about £1000 to £2000 pa for nearly 25 years, I could have had a nice car, but I would never have enjoyed all that self indulgent and sometimes kinky sex.

I'm up to about £20,000 in less than three years - I could have got a pretty decent (used) car for that but I would never have met Lydia, Min Min, Coco, Helena, Eva, Phoebe, Tiffany, Kira, Jennifer, Sissy, Rebecca, Yumi, etc.

When I'm old and past it, I will still have some fantastic memories......

It is true, there are good memories of fantastic women, for me Daisy, Chloe, Tatiana, Heather and Priya.

For the last 10 years or so I've been spending just over 10% of my net income on punting .. I'm punting about once a week on average.

Although I have a Maths degree, it's not a calculation I have ever made.

A typo?

Nothing in the OP makes it clear, so just chat about how much you spend on punting....

I do have a limit, but its a bit more than 3%. More like 10% of disposable (after tax etc.). I know people who spend as much on other hobbies. Early days yet though and will ease off if things get tight. I have just rationalised it by saying I will retire a year or two later to catch up (mortgage just about paid off anyway). Not a problem as I love my job.

What if it was £1,500 on escorts as opposed to £15,000 on gambling?

most women will in time forgive a man who fritters away the family home on a gee gee - but £30 quid on a rub and tug - no way - never

when high profile public careers are at stake - women do seem to forgive and forget - in public at least - hilary clinton is a prime example
