in a similar vein, just imagine the hoo ha there would be these days at some of the TV adverts of yesteryear. For example, the BLM people would be up in arms at the notion that  Persil washes whiter.

I'm hoping that one of my favorite beers is acceptable to them, after all it is called Old Empire.  I don't know though.

Out of curiosity - as I don't get to see English advertizing - what is the language of detergents these days? Do they go for "cleaner" and "fresher" or what?

and lisa sends rastus to get some washing powder. he comes back with camera film. he says he found persil for whites, ariel for coloureds so got ilford for black and whites.

I grew up in Ilford. sadly no Ilford Films building in Ley Street any more.

As long as it's a proper pie, not one of these meat and gravy in a dish with a pastry lid things that seems to pass for a pie down south.
