Annoying AW warning message

5 posts in this topic

I often see the message randomly on profiles quoting (I am sure we have all seen it)

Quote

Alert: The authenticity or legitimacy of this member's profile has been brought into question. Please exercise caution.

We have been given reason to believe that this profile may not be totally bona fide.  We have asked the member to provide documentation in order to verify themself.  If this documentation is not provided within 48 hours the profile will be removed from the Site.

Until such time as this message no longer appears here, please exercise caution when corresponding with this member as they may not:

  • be who they say they are
  • be where they say they are
  • appear as depicted in any pictures
  • offer the services they profess to offer

Regardless of any member's verification status, ** operates a buyer beware policy and would all encourage members to follow these steps when evaluating any members authenticity.  (hide message

What annoys me about this message is the lack of consistency as to when it pops up. Sometimes it pops up when the member is unverified but sometimes not. I have seen unverified accounts without this message regularly.

There is not actually a real person sifting through new profiles and marking them as suspicious or not is there?

Its not random, all new profiles must submit the required ID or the profile will be pulled after 48 hours, the standard required of the requested information is high and will be refused for the slightest error or poor quality of picture/photo copy.

Yes there is a real person shifting through the submissions, if you send in office hours you usually get verified in a couple of hours, if there is a problem you will receive an email explaining what's wrong but this is time critical to respond too.

The above applies to UK passport holders only, Non UK passport holders have different problems to overcome, including proof of address/utilities bills etc, picture standing next to your street sign holding passport and a copy of that days daily newspaper........

Widening the theme, Backpage has been the subject of an escort's grief for withholding £3000 without good reason and then while that thread on another site was still active, the CEO of backpage has been arrested and it is expected the site will be taken offline.

...and on a similar theme, wondered why no bank transfers/cheques issued by AW this week?

AW and PacNet

PacNet is the company that was contracted to make credit payments to profile holders.
