Parlour with a colour bar

122 posts in this topic

No this is not a flame or wind up. I am not writing to complain either. It is a fact of life that parlours will not see certain men from other races, and this is for various reasons.

Being a black male, I have been turned away 3 times last week and thought it might be useful if anyone might like to share information on parlours that will not see them - whatever race you are. If nothing else, it will save alot of time/petrol/money wasting. So here goes…

1) Kitty's Place, Elmer's End

"We don't allow black customers/our girls don't see black customers"

2) Affinity, Waddon

"xxx does not see black men, her boyfriend is black"

3) Complete/New Solitaires, Thornton Heath (Wednesdays/Sundays)

"xxx has gone home"../"They don't see black men"

4) Magic Moments, Purley

"Are you a coloured gentlemen…sorry we don't allow coloured gentlemen"

5) Stars Massage, Sydenham

"Sorry, we don't see black gentleman on any night - there have been too many robberies"

6) Dollies, Bromley

Same as Magic moments

7) Angeline's Sauna, Waddon

"I'm sorry, but she will not see you"

Any additions to this list?

I'm afraid this happens, I always ask a new girl if she see's black men, most say they dont mind, a few say no. The excuses range from having a black boyfriend,(so what happens when they have white boyfriend????) dicks are too big...:) one even told me she was scared of black men. I can never get my head around it but will never force a girl to see anyone she doesn't want to and the only time we were ever robbed was by 4 asian men...!!!!

There are certain races known for robbing parlours and a certain race notorious for asking about services while stood outside on doorstep and price haggling.

One of the places you mentioned had numerous robberies by a certain race and have not been robbed since they stopped letting them in a few years ago. Although they do keep a list of certain guys of that race who they will allow in.

How that doesn't get to you and you keep your cool, I do not know :)

I've never experienced that kind of discrimination so cannot know and hardly imagine. Anyway, don't want to turn this into yet another racial thread but am sorry to see this happening so much.

I am black but don't go to parlours so no personal experience. If you're getting no joy with certain establishments try others or book independents as many don't have these exclusions. Not really interested in debating why certain races are barred by certain parlours as ultimately I believe it's a free world. Ladies are totally free to choose who they see and there are lots of ladies available who see clients of all races. Thanks for listing these establishments as it is very helpful for other black punters to know not to bother trying to book appointments.

Totally outdated terminology. What colour? Pink? Green? Blue? Or does she want to colour you in with a felt tipped pen? So ignorant to use the word "coloured" when referring to a black man.

Interesting list. Being a black man myself i usually go for independents, but i always have to email them first to ask if they are ok to see a black man. It's become a routine of mine.

I think most WG's could make life a bit easier by saying on their profiles/websites if they don't want to see certain gents, would save everybody a lot of wasted time and uncomfortable conversations.

I don't think you can call it "Racism", it's just "Sexual Preferance" and you just have to shrug your shoulders and live with it.

I know Indian girls who won't see Indian guys.

African girls who won't see West Indian men.

Chinese girls who won't see Muslims.

It just goes on and on.

You can't force a girl to see anyone she doesn't want to see.

There's no way to get round this colour bar.

Just have to live with it.

Antony, you seem a sensible guy ---------- do you have problems in other walks of life -------- such as waving down a cab late at night.

I am wary of young black guys late at night, does that make me a racist. ??

True Matium but i think Punter knows that.

I always prefer that the ladies are upfront about their specific preferences. Think how much unwanted emails, text messages and calls they would stop receiving if they made it clear from the start.

If anyone should take offence at this choice of words don't you think it should be the OP, or are you outraged on his behalf?

You're probably right though. If I was black I would be bloody seething at being called coloured, but only a bit miffed at being blue balled (if I am allowed to say that).

I am wary of everyone late at night ------------ but when I used to be a mini-cab driver I got mugged three times ----- by young black guys.

Most black guys are not muggers.

Most muggers are black guys.

Anyone dispute that. ???????????????????????

Not really,i dress well, carry myself with respect, And i can always hail a black cab at night if i need one with no problems.

As for being wary of young black guys that doesn't make you racist at all. Some young black boys have sadly done themselves no favors when it comes to how people perceive them.

Seems like the refusal to see black clients because of colour is largely found in the parlour scene. Is this correct? A bit long in the tooth on the punting scene:p and I have only experienced refusals over the phone on grounds of race twice in 9 years. At the risk of sounding like a broken record this is a multi-million pound industry and the vast majority of ladies don't select clients based on race. Don't have hard data but my mates and I from Nigeria who punt regularly:D all concur that in our experience punting in the UK ( with Indys/Agencies admittedly) this type of selection is pretty rare. Maybe the parlours with these policies can specify on their websites to save hassle, time and money all round.

that would bring them into direct conflict with the equality laws, would it not ?

I have had a mixture of experiences, mainly good. I believe if you show respect to others then it comes back your way, but not always.

I cannot judge you as I do not know you.

I never used to go to parloursm but this is more of a money issue I guess. Although previously, I have had a couple of escorts get back in the car with the excuse, "My boyfriend is black"...

Being of that 'certain race', I think you are talking about Kittys. I used to go there 2006, 2007 and when the manager changed to Kitty in 2007, the colour bar was put there - even though I was a regular!! Ironically this place was a black parlour before.

Can't say I've ever met anybody who is "black" or indeed "white" for that matter. Granted, the race relations act provides for discrimination to be lawful if done for the purposes of safeguarding national security, but nontheless IMHO, baring someone because of the colour of his/her skin is disgusting.

I think the fact she was robbed twice in one week and on one occasion held to the ground at knifepoint was what made her put that policy in place.

You should get out more. They're all over!

But I'm wondering how people who are not black or even 'coloured' feel about knowing that a girl won't see a certain type of person. I know it turns me off of the girl completely. Even if she will see me, I won't see her knowing she has 'sexual preferences' with racist undertones..
