I've sat on my hands for long enough ...

178 posts in this topic

... and I would like to follow up on Claire's thread the other day about grumpiness on the forum.

For chrissakes, all we have had in the last week or so is ...

- I don't like escorts ( sorry, prostitutes  ) who call themselves "courtesans".

- I don't like escorts who call their fees "donations".

- Escorts that have "wishlists" are delusional.

-Escorts who ask for their fee in an envelope are doing so because it doesn't feel like cash.

- I wouldn't pay more than £120 and no-one else should either.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, can posters not just accept that just like every other service industry it is very much a case of different strokes for different folks? Some people choose to eat at McDonalds, others prefer Gordon Ramsay. That is dependant on their disposable income and is also absolutely their choice and should not be up for debate or undermining by anyone else.

The final straw for me was when posters started making remarks about Dr. Brooke Magnanti's personal appearance. Jesus wept, the woman has a PHD in informatics, epidemiology and forensic science and is now working at the Bristol Initiative for Research of Child Health. WHAT DOES IT MATTER HOW HER SKIN IS ?

She has done more for the sex industry as a whole in dispelling a lot of the popular myths that abound than any number of activists could ever hope to achieve.

In a time when Punternet is in the public eye, is this the image we want to portray as a community ? Bitching, sniping and trying to undermine each other at every juncture ? Really ?

I'm going for a lie down. :D

I'm not trying to be funny - but you being grumpy about them being grumpy - isn't exactly helping the cause.

Pot, kettle and all that....

I agree wholeheartedly. Each to their own and stop whining about the others.

So far, just lately, I'm delusional and I'm trying to rip off my clients...

*Yawn*

I don't like escorts who think can have an opinion.

Je ne comprais pas?

AKA

EH???

Just to make your day..............................................

I have moved this thread to Off Topic because that is what it is.

If you had even put "because that's what ladies like me do!!" or similar at the end of your OP, it would have just about squeezed it into the main board!

Still, ya gotta larf aint ya? It made me smile.

I think we should be grumpy, I've sat on my hands for long enough too.

I've been a member of the forum for a while now, two years? I'm not sure. When I first joined, it took me a long time to revisit and post. Agency days, found it really refreshing, interesting, to hear so much about what I was meant to know about already - but didn't, as an agency escort in her bubble just starting out as an indie. I didn't contribute straight away as the grumpy posts, the angry posts, the "who do they think they are??" posts - it's like seeing your worst clients' opinions in your spare time...

...and you think my God, they're more of them out there.

Is there a cause? I think if there is a cause, it should be a cause in aid of the ability to discuss thorny issues without posters feeling, thence writing, clearly narked that one group on this forum makes money, one group spends it. It doesn't follow that one group is permanently annoyed because of the discrepancy, and the other group only appears here to enact their personal rain-dance in threads, hoping for extra traffic, rather than posit an opinion.

Laura, you are right. Its very sad and depressing that some people have to bitch and snipe about others and anyone outside this industry may think that it is us ladies doing this but remarkably enough it is men. The guys who see escorts/whores/prostitutes/courtesans/whatever - punters/clients/johns/whatever - its all semantics. Is this a sad and depressing industry?, is it? is that what people will see when they read this forum?

Only a very few do this of course (these guys) otherwise we would all give up tomorrow. After all, who wants to entertain a whiney, bitchy bloke, can you imagine?

Who, or indeed what we call ourselves - it really should be down to personal choice. Just like choosing our working name or our childs name even. Who really should give a damn what we feel comfortable with calling ourselves as long as we are comfrotable with it? It really shouldnt matter to anyone else. We all know the score, we know what is on offer. Just because we choose to be a little creative or pick something that resonates with us should not be a matter for 'naming and shaming' for gawds sake. Its quite ridiculous really. Havent we all got better things to to and think about?

I wasnt going to get into a situation where I have to justify myself on here. Not to someone who has never met me. I am an honest person. My clients like me and I like them. I have a healthy respect and admiration for other ladies, I have friends in this business. I never cheat anyone and I try my best to make anyone who sees me happy. I have many, many clients who are dear friends of mine too. But its not just me, it has happened constantly to others. Is it because people run out of things to talk about?, shouldnt we be spending time making ourselves interesting and them come back when we have something less spiteful to say?

Now, we could get into a debate about why some fellas feel the need to go for the jugular of some ladies despite never having met them. Jealousy? They took a dislike to their site/pics/profile/dress size/hair do or maybe it was the bloomin' font that set them off. It may be a reflection on them and their internal 'stuff' and someone far more erudite than I will probably enlighten us all on that but it is a theme that is constantly brought up here. Its a 'You dont do or like what I do therefore I will ridicule/mock or try to humiliate you' Arent we all consenting adults? Shouldnt we behave in that manner? I think its called Live and Let Live.

As a JRC impersonation goes, I'd give it 6 out of 10 only. Now if you'd ended it with ":rolleyes:", I'd have been impressed ;).

Like the other moaners on here, you are just pissed off because the lovely ladies won't bend to the so-called market forces which it is suggested should be forcing them all to lower their prices to what the moaners want to pay.

Brilliant post Laura and I so agree.. But this particularly riled me. Brooke has done the industry such good by coming forward showing that she is not a drug-ridden woman and that she is for real. She has shown that normal very intelligent women are in this industry too and has rubbed the anti's nose right in it.

Yet here we are, a thread went up where her skin gets slagged off, I would not pay £300 for that etc. So so sad. Chances are that she has helped all of you so you can still continue punting in the future by showing an intelligent nice side to this industry rather than the usual forced drugged image being portrayed.
