The GMB and the IUSW are asking for financial assistance to help them combat these laws. Anything we can do will help.

Given the lack of any convictions for trafficking 4000 in this country seems like a figure conjured up out of thin air.

The only police unit to tackle trafficking , in Mac taggarts constituency is being closed for lack of funds/ success.

There are an estimated 80.000 sex workers in this country excluding lap-dancers.

The worse case scenario is that 5% of the business has illegal trafficked women in it.

GMB Congress 2006 declared its support for the full and complete decriminalisation of prostitution. The sexual behavior of consenting adults requires no regulation by the state.

And guess who are GMB sponsored MP's http://www.gmb.org.uk/Templates/Internal.asp?NodeID=94367&int1stParentNodeID=89645&int2ndParentNodeID=89660

Jacqui S. & Fiona McT:D:D

I think they may be in for a very hard time getting this through if their major source of cash for the next election actively opposes this legislation. Is this the light at the end of the tunnel?

But, do they actively solicit the money from the union? could they be sued for breach of contract?

This is a quite excellent piece of Union work and should be supported

To donate to the GMB, and to make sure it goes on sex work, then send donations to the GMB, with a letter asking it to be ring fenced for the IUSW work. The problem with sending it to the GMB is it cannot be anonymous, money laundering etc. The IUSW is setting up their own account for donations, but this is taking a long time to do.

I spoke with Catherine Stevens today, and she would be delighted to receive donations. presently most of the work is funded out of their own pockets. I received this mail today about donations. I have also spoke to the branch secretary or the GMB IUSW branch, and he has confirmed that donations can be ring fenced for the sex workers.

This is my latest email (today) from Douglas Fox about donations and the IUSW.

You can donate monies today with cheques made payable to GMB and send to :

Postal address:

London Entertainment & IUSW

GMB Branch

PO Box 6410

London WC1A 9AF

But you must put a letter in saying that this is a donation to the IUSW and that you want it ring fenced for the IUSW campaign fund.

I am just waiting confirmation from Justin who runs Soho Boyze and who is member and will be a signatory on the new account and who is happy to receive cheques payable to the IUSW and who will keep them to pay in when the new account is opened. (It is taking longer than expected but nothing we can do about it).

I am just waiting for details re what he wants written on the envelopes. I assume it will just be care of and the address of his out reach centre but just want to confirm with him.

So the choice is yours. Both ways of paying will get to the new campaign fund just one will be through the GMB account and the other will be direct into the new account when it is open hopefully in a weeks time.

Finally if you are an Escort and reading this, Join today, as well as donating.

If you are a punter, you can also join. It though is more important that more escorts join and show that there is a large group of working women who want to be noticed.
