What's in a name?

72 posts in this topic

Two linked questions have started to bug me. First, how does a lady choose her working name, and, second, does her choice affect business?

There are lots of names that are intrinsically feminine---- anything ending with -a, -ia, ie, -elle or -ella for starters. These seem as good choices, as do traditional safe names, like Helen and Susan.

But, I'm mystified when I see a girl calling herself Regan, say, which brings to mind the Sweeney and the late US president, not sensual pleasures. And, then, there are gutteral names like Ingrid, that don't strike me as sexy at all. But it's used by several lasses, who are very nice to judge from their FRs. These names wouldn't actually put me off seeing a girl, but they don't strike me as good marketing.

Perhaps I'm only showing my own prejudices and others think that Ingrid and Regan convey great sensuality.... Or maybe your name doesn't matter?

I chose Crystal because I was reading Katie Price aka Jordans book which was named Crystal & when it said 'alias' that is just what came to my head.

Looking back I don't think I would choose Crystal now but it is still quite individual there is not many Crystals out there so I guess it was a good choice at the time.

I think at least some of that would be, er, age-related. :( Reagan hasn't been President since 1989, the Sweeney originally broadcast 1975 - 78, so anyone aged under 30 or so won't make those associations so readily. "Ingrid", btw, strikes me (born 1962) as sultry, sexy, Swedish and '60's - so perhaps those girls are playing on the same "folk memories"?

Helen and Susan are probably 50+ in my personal belief system. I thought "Susan" was the most fabulous name in the world as a child and bitterly resented that it wasn't my name; I guess there must have been some incredibly glamorous connotation with a lady just a little older than I?

Funny I know but I love the name Crystal. Its fantasy and make believe but backed in your case by a beautiful woman --- exactly what this escorting thing is all about ! Having said that I cant imagine any sane punter searching under fav names or deciding not to book an otherwise suitable lady just because he doesnt like the sound of her name but theres nowt..............

yep--- much of it has to do with your own association with a particular name. susan is an all time fav of mine--- the name of the first girl I fancied and I was only 6/7 at the time. Ingrid is a terrible name --- a sort of female concentration camp commandant type ! harsh and businesslike too.

And now for some dull data:

The top 5 WG's names from field reports data on the PN database, different WGs only, so for example a Rosina with say 100+ reports only scores 1 for the name Rosina.

5 Emma

4 Lisa

3 Anna

2 Lucy

and Number 1 , da, da, da, will be revealed tomorrow.

Because I'm anal that way

Actually the most common 'First' name chosen by WGs in the PN database is 'Mistress' but that doesn't really count so it's not that.

Ingrid Bergman was sexy enough and perhaps the name Ingrid conjours up images of a cool Scandinavian beauty.

Personally, I for an ecort I like a nice soft feminine name or a bright fun sparkly one ! At the end of the day I really dont think it matters a damn.If I fancy her she can call herself Rover if she wants.

I'm sure that is true, but it's hardly the point because we are talking here of the names that girls have adopted professionally, not what their parents chose to call them.

And some names do seem to be avoided---- no FRS for Doreen or Dorothy

So, three of the top five end with an 'a', classically feminine and the fifth, Sarah, is pronounced as if it did.

There aren't many for Doris, Mavis, Beryl or Gladys either  I have seen a couple of Brendas, however.

There seem to be three styles of working name:

a) a single name, like, yes, Sarah,

 a "normal name", like Helen Jones, Rhia Charles, etc,

c) a unique name, for a unique person, like Dollymopp.

Although punting is based on the false premise that the lady is overjoyed to to have sex with the punter, I find that the little extra false-hood of a name that probably is a lie, detracts from my pleasure. I prefer the name that I know isn't her real name, like Dollymopp.

My name was chosen for me in the early noughties when I set up a competition for my 'cam show buyers' to choose a new name for me.

One of my regular show buyers (a yummy scotsman) came up with Indian-Delight.

I stuck with it when I crossed over to Escorting.

I wonder why any girl would call herself Regan. Regan is one of the two ungrateful daughters of the King in Shakespeare's "King Lear" so the name has stood for calculation, cold-heartedness, ingratitude and ruthlessness.

So if a girl calls herself "Regan" then it's an insight into her character

I'd love to meet a girl who called herself "Wendy" or "Alice" - those names suggest pure sensuality !

Well I just chose something I was comfortable with, something I'd be happy answering the phone with or booking a table at a restuarant. I'm a down-to-earth girl so found a name that suited me and my clients.

Ok well I picked Olivia because Shakespeare created the name for the heroine of the comedy Twelfth Night. Twelfth Night is one of my favourite Shakespeare's plays, comprising themes of mistaken identity, cross-dressing, love and deception. Which in this game is really quite appropriate. LOL. Also I was a big fan of Olivia Hussey when I was at school I saw her in Romeo and Juliet. I thought she was beautiful and well the name tickled me somewhat given the nature of my occupation.
