Only in The Sun ?

I guess the government assumes that if you're a punter you read the Sun.

We could do a poll what newspapers punters read, save .gov on some advertising spend. :D

The Sun is pretty much the anti-sex league's slave even if they do articles on the positive side of the sex industry and other sex positive things.

If Labour get into power again they'll doubtless seek to outlaw page 3 of The Sun, HH hinted at this sometime last year. I always think The Sun are scoring an own goal when they come out on the same side as the anti-sex brigade.

Well the Sun are completely hypocritical. With Page 3, their many 'chat'lines, problem page 'strip' they depict women as sexually available all the time. Next minute they are printing stories decrying casual sexual behaviour, teen mums, affairs etc etc.

I think Claire Short tried to outlaw Page 3 back in the 80s and the Sun mocked her so maybe theu will do the same for Harriet Hatemen. The thing is though Labour has extremist feminists in it, the Tories have religious fundies in it. I would suggest maybe vote for the Lib Dems but the Christian population in this country do not want an atheist as Prime Minister. Looks like sexual freedoms are fucked either way.

This is positive. Believe it or not this will actually increase the number of guys visiting walkups and parlours. There are some guys out there who probably doubted place like this were for real. Now they know they will get their skates on before the 1st April deadline.:D

Not a very good quality of paper for wiping your arse on tho.

After April 1st

My advice is wait a wee while and see how it goes, bound to be some eager goes to implement new law

seems to me given the truly massive amount of punting going on these days allied to the fact its out in the open what with topical TV programmes relating to WGs etc that overall we live in a very liberated society ,

So quite how it all pans out will be interesting

I was despondent over the law

then i was gloomy

now I am up for the challenge whatever it brings

in many ways I am glad it has actually arrived

also glad I can vote for a new party in May

I think good will come out of this, its back 3 paces then forward 5

wait and see.

Good Luck Punters & WGs everywhere

While this new law may inhibit punting in parlours, it wont stop the activity of girls advertising on the web through A/wank and Viva Street, as well as others, and neither will it stop guys making private arrangements to meet girls in hotel rooms. A case of consenting adults and all that. And how's the law going to be applied in somewhere like Manchester which has a high tolerance factor of parlours?

I have the private numbers of 3 escorts I see from time 2 time, and can make an appointment by text. All I see is that this law will just move the problem elsewhere, solve very little, and may lead to an explosion of girls offerering services on the web through a variety of disguises.

Yes I get the feeling this is just all publicity seeing as there is a general election coming soon.

Granted I will stop visiting parlours but I have only been to about 2 in the the past couple of years as I prefer agency/indies so it wont affect me in the slightest.

As has been said this wont stop anything it will just move things around, the people running brothels & the ladies that work in them will adapt easily enough I think.

Assuming that all girls in flesh trade are forced the statement "Walk in a Punter Walk out a Criminal" is true. Otherwise they should have a "*" sign and small note below saying "conditions apply"

If you guys think soho walkups cannot die you may be wrong. If we see at what happened to Geylang, singapore street walkers as they vanished from the streets same can happen to soho walkups. Few may still keep on business but the charm and choice will surely go.

I don't know why you are comparing the Soho walk-ups to the streetwalkers in Singapore .

The new Act won't kill off the Soho walk-ups. That will be done by the property developers: Soho Estates, the Raymond family, Laurence Kirschel et al. It won't happen now because of the recession, but it will happen - gradually and slowly.

The Home Office has some guidance about NOT using the poster, or maybe not using it in Govt or Council premises ---it is ambiguous--- dring the run-up to the election. Most odd:

http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/documents/prostitution-poster-guidance2835.pdf?view=Binary

Indeed! What a very strange statement at the end since the poster is essentially apolitical. Unless, of course, the government is afraid that the poster may affect some voter's allegiances. :)

For reasons that will become evident in due course it would be helpful if anyone seeing this poster displayed or published would keep a note of where & when.
