A brothel, what is it.

6 posts in this topic

I know the definition is where there is more than one women selling sex, and they need not be doing it at the same time. I know it also apparently applies to the whole building, which will make most hotels brothels.

I have been asked a hypothetical question.

If a women was selling sex to a client, and a third party escort arrived and joined in for free, would this be classed as a brothel.

I think I have been asked because two women are thinking of working, with only one accepting payment and keeping the payment. That maybe is not a brothel, but are their other ramifications to consider.

Just to get this straight in my mind, we are talking about 2 females (A & where one female, say female A, takes and keeps ALL the money, the other female (B) does not take or keep ANY of the money?

If the above is correct then my question is, will female A ALWAYS take and keep ALL the money and female B will NEVER take and keep ANY of the money? or will the 2 females take turn in taking and keeping the money?

I'd say the 'duck' test applies here. I'd find it difficult to believe that one of the women is a prostitute and is doing it for money but the other is a charity worker and doing it for free. If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck.............

I agree. Its complicated and came about after an email I made to several hundred independent workers suggesting they write to their MPs. I mentioned that the law could affect them, and that they may already be breaking laws by doing threesomes or sharing a flat, and really they ought to be making their voice heard.

Alas I get a question back from one who has been doing threesomes for some time. Now she has a friend from abroad, and that she was going to give all the money to this friend while they work together..

Of course in the cold logic of the night, she has been accepting money her self on previous occasions, and the fact she is going to give future earnings to the other for the time she is visiting, will make it a brothel.

Though really in practice she does not have much to worry about.

Surely by giving all of the money to a friend, then she could be interpreted as being controlled for gain, as the friend would then be assisting her in the conduct of her business?

Face it, if a receptionist, who in any other situation; such as GP's surgery, would be considered as a perfectly legal employee, is classed as being in control of those who pay her, when it comes to the sex trade, then they can cast the net as widely as is necessary, to take in any activity carried out by a third party.

Could someone write to the GMB - who is a member of it, and ask why they financially support HH when she has developed a policy which is contrary to their own position?

Bordering on fraud by the woman.
