Clocks! What clocks?

25 posts in this topic

Had a punt arranged for 10 this morning.

Phoned agency at 9 to confirm.

Surprise, surprise. Unfortunately the young lady had forgotten to put her clock forward. She could do an hour later. But I couldn't, as I had to be elsewhere.

I wasn't too pissed off, as I'd half expected it. I'd never have booked that time if I'd realised when I booked that it was clock-forwarding day. Anyway, it saves a few bob.

I'll bet I wasn't the only one to get caught though.

Sadly this will be the case in every agency today. Karl text everyone working today to remind them last night. He then text them again this morning. Already we have had one person tell us that they put their phone forward and then at 1am the phone updated actomatically so they are still late. Well How ???? If the phone updated automatically then it would be right !!!

I would have thought if someone had adjusted their phone, and then the phone automatically had added and hour then they would be an hour early as they'd be two hours forward. :o

Its always wonderful when people come out with a load of bollocks and think you are as dumb as they are!!

At my place you get a choice of time, Auto time that has an atomic clock and self adjusts and "Microwave Oven or Clockwork Clock time that needs human intervention.

My clocks that need me to adjust them get done over the next 2-3 days because I am a lazy sod.

No. She put it an hour forward, then it updates, also moving forward an hour thus, she would have been - should have been - an hour early.

No, depends whether it updates by advancing an hour or updates by checking it is correct via a radio signal.

Not sure I have met the first type but they could well exist.

Suppose so, but I did mine this way yesterday and today it was an hour forward. So it must just look at the month and add or subtract an hour hour accordingly.

You're supposed to spring forward and fall back, but one year at university I got muddled up and fell forward and spent a couple of weeks being 2 hours early for every lecture before I realised my mistake.

Edited by Bunthorne
got forward and back mixed up

The ones I forgot several times: the dash of the car.

Embarassing, especially if you dont use the car for days, and then rush somewhere...

Does Dr Who have to put his clock forward today, does he have auto-adjust, does he have any concept of normal time, or does he just set his watch to what time it should be, and that is the time everyone else has to put up with?

It must be fun being a time lord.

Can any time lords out there let us know if your remembered the hour ahead, or whether it doesn't matter because you make the time be what you want it to be.

Is there any reasonable argument against using Daylight Saving Time all year round?

We did it in extreme austerity (World Wars, and Tory Governments) before.
