Glasgow escort scene - Sunday Mail

9 posts in this topic

A few weeks ago the Sunday Mail ran front page headlines regarding escorts working in Glasgow.

I am advised they will be running similar stories tomorrow.

They did this about 25 years ago, and this directly led to me seeing secorts , it was great advertisng for the industry.

Hope they are proud of their efforts.

I seem to remember that it was the Sunday Mail which sanctimoniously outed Heidi in Edinburgh, and forced her (then) Landlord to turf her out of the very convenient basement flat on the corner of Palmerston Place (with Starbucks now on top).

I suppose it sells newspapers, and, indeed, helps WGs to advertise. It is just the self satisfied tone in which they report that gets up my nose!

Thing is, it sells papers. It's today's news, tomorrows trash. (or in my case used to wrap the cat shit)

Shame their investigative journos cant go poking around the drug scene, or the establishments using illegal immigrants, and the corner shop selling booze and fags to under age kids.

Maybe their editor is a devout kirk-goer, so is on a personal crusade against sex, but has yet to realise that while their are links to trafficking, some women chose to be WGs as they can earn £500 a week tax free for 4 hours work. Maybe that's hard for them to comprehend?

The Edinburgh local paper (is it the Evening News) ran a week long series of articles about the sex industry (to use their words) a few years ago. They seemed to be a bit better at ensuring that those who were interviewed could have some chance of not being identified.

Reminds me of the Record (I think?) completely outing an escort not too long ago, and the article corresponding to it was absolutely revolting. It was so rude (it even had the audacity to call her "plump" at one point ;)) and intrusive on her life, I can't imagine anyone successfully convincing me it wasn't immoral drek used to sell papers, and given it actually hurt her, surely a much more awful way to earn money than escorting (which in her case wasn't awful at all... How is a woman choosing the career as opposed to being trafficked, forced or dragged into it by addiction really hurting anyone?).
