Newspaper adverts in today's internet orientated world

18 posts in this topic

After reading the thread about how adverts have started reappearing in newspapers, I just wondered how many guys here used them, and how many escorts here also advertise in them?

I went through a period a while ago of looking through the back of the daily sport and local ad-mags for "adult services", but do you not think it's dubious and kind of seedy now, in light of the fact that you can just go online for fully informative and illustrated websites for indies and agencies? It seems far more reputable to have a website that just an ad in the back of a rag that reads something like "busty mature. Call me now". :)

Personally I wouldn't go back to using them. What are your thoughts?

I wouldn't for a moment consider booking a lady on the basis of a two-line nespaper small ad. In the unlikely event that there was anything in one that caught my eye I might check the phone number on the Internet, but that's about as close as I would get.

This was my main way of locating WGs pre-internet and i still occassionally make appointments this way if i like the ladies phone manner. I certainly dont look on it as seedy, like some sites/profiles some adverts may well be dubious though.

I still get chaps ringing me regards old listings in Contact Magazines or from when I did pop the odd add in the paper. They tell me they don't have, or won't use the internet for this purpose. I do however mention my website especially if they are requiring to know "exactly" what I offer. Makes a lot of sense especially for the ones who are deliberating - if you know what I mean!!!!!

I think there are two things that can be said about this. Firstly, newspaper ads are probably particularly good for those who are not particularly internet savvy or do not even own a computer. I am sure there is a whole cross section of society that does not know how to maneuver a mouse :) Secondly, newspaper ads, instead of an internet website, may appeal to the escort that wants to keep their practices more low key. In the days of the internet, everyone can gain access to your website via the search engines. The escort may have by mistake included the wrong mobile number or other personal information, which most of the time be picked up by the search engine bots and get indexed on their databases. So there is something to be said for both types of advertisement. @ Strawberry - Yes directing clients to your website is a good way of broaching difficult subjects with tentative clients :)

It never ceases to amaze me how many punters i speak to who dont have the net and many simply arent interested in it.

The WGs i punt with on occassion from local paper adverts are in the main not computer savvy either and think setting up a site or profile is a difficult thing to do, and as you say there are some who want to keep a low profile. Welcome to the board.;)

There alot of punters out there that don't have computers or don't use the big bad net...:)

I was looking in the South London Press on tuesday and there was 6 pages of ads for massage/WG's.

I was amazed...;)

As stated above newspaper adverts can be good for those who are not used to the internet..

Newspapers can generate some good buisness...

We only place adverts that will allow our website domain to be shown, as this cuts down on the do you have a website calls..

the bad side of newspaper adverts...

The price, The adult sections are priced far higher than normal advertising..

The price, The adult sections are priced far higher than normal advertising..

Which is so hypocritical. "We'll take our fee-and more but we'll demonise anyone unlucky enough to create a bit of gossip for our tired pages. By the way -heard of any good chip pan fires recently!"

You're right -there are millions of healthy males with no access to the internet. I've never advertised in the newspaper because I simply don't want to become a small town curiosity.

I do know of people in service industry the who dont use the internet at all. They rely solely on Newspaper adverts and do very well too.

Theres also a third, almost everything on the internet ends up recorded somewhere.

So even if a girl escorted for a short time. Theres a good chance that theres a record of her doing so.

http://www.archive.org/

Its got a good archive of some popular escort sites, going back quite a few years too.

So the internet can come back to haunt you if you leave escorting behind.........

Ive used PC's since my then employer brought in IBM PCs in 1982 and Ive always kept one at home, always worked with them, and can do virtually anything on one, in fact Ive had a job where it was paperless for many many years

BUT in reality I could manage at home without one at home,if push came to shove, and I sympathise with older folk on low incomes who cannot afford a PC, the virus protection, the ISP fees etc when in reality what they do in life in perfectly doable without a PC so why spend serious money on one.

There is a huge arrogance from mainly younger folk that life without a PC and the NET is impossible- it isnt, They frankly dont need it to live

And sure enough when a lot of folk retire on a low fixed income they will see things differently

What really pains me is the arrogant and superior talk that those without PCs are (always) 'afraid' of them, I know several people who own a significant property portfolio and have real wealth who dont bother with a home PC

I had properties for let long before the net showed up and yes everything ran OK, so stop putting PC usage and skills on some sort of pedestal in life, and being cynical over those who frankly dont need a PC (or mouse) to livet.

The Spanish government has put itself on collision course with the national press with the announcement that it wants to ban adverts offering sexual services from their classified sections.

The explicit adverts, which fill at least a page in most of Spain's dailies, are worth €40m (£34m) a year to the struggling newspaper industry.

We get bookings from printed ads, and often this is visitors to London who don't have convenient computer access.

True, and I've used it once or twice out of boredom, but you can ask to have your site blocked or removed, which quite a few people do.

I have made two bookings using newspaper ad's, they were both utter disasters.

As far as I am concerned, why bother when you can have photos, full descriptions of services and most important of all previous punters feedback all on-line to view, It wouldn't bother me in the slightest if the ad's were banned.

As for being seedy, they are no less or more seedy than any other way of advertising sexual services, they both do similar jobs, it just depends on your point of view.

I agree, provided the photos are of the actual lady that you see, that the services described are actually supplied, and that the lady is not on the "No Reports" list. But one can't have everything, can one? that would make things just a little bit too easy.
