Opportunity to share your opinions and experiences for a Scotland-based research project on clients

Posted by cpres
Have you ever paid for sex in Scotland? Would you like to talk about it as part of a University research project? If so, we would be interested in speaking with you. We are currently seeking to speak with individuals who have paid for sex in Scotland for a research project seeking to explore the experiences and opinions of customers. This research project is funded by the British Academy and hosted by The University of Edinburgh.
Who can participate…
If you are over the age of 18, are able to consent, and have purchased sex in Scotland, you are eligible to take part in this research. This research is seeking respondents of all sexes, genders, sexual identities, nationalities, ethnicities and religions.
Why participate…
This study offers customers the chance to express their opinions and talk about their experiences in a safe, non-judgmental, anonymous, and confidential setting.
Recently there have been many changes made to policies on sex work and various new bills proposed to Scottish parliament; in most instances, there has been no information on individuals who buy sex included. We think it is important that customers have their opinions presented in the on-going debates, their voices heard, and their experiences known. Projects such as this have the potential to help this happen.
What participation means…
Agreeing to take part in this study means engaging in an interview that will last 1 to 1.5 hours. The interview consists of questions and discussions about topics such as around your history of paying sex, your experiences of doing so, and your opinions on policy in Scotland about sex work. The interview can take place face to face, on the telephone or on a program such as Skype. All of the information that you share is confidential and anonymous- your name will be changed in anything written about the research and any information that could lead to your identification will be removed. The information that you share with us will be used for research purposes only which includes things like journal articles, conference presentations and a book based on the research findings.

- All participants are guaranteed anonymity and confidentiality.

-This research has no connections to, or funding from, any media, police, policy makers, unions and/or any other civil or government body

-This research does not promote or support the criminalization of sex work or clients
