Jesus Christ Reid and Redux, please stop squabbling. In my humble opinion you've both added something to the site, which a few weeks ago went nearly two weeks without a new post being added. In the end though I'd nothing much to say I posted myself a couple of times, just to try and keep things turning over. So keep posting, keep providing info, and FFS kiss and make up.

It's actually not a bad idea from Babylon about like minded guys teaming up for Thailand. I know it's not going to happen but in an ideal situation it would. I've been to the Far East many, many times and thought nothing of it. But now... The length of the flights are daunting. But the main thing I'd be concerned about is security, ie looking after your money and even more importantly your passport and other vital stuff. It only takes one slip up or mistake or flash of forgetfulness to be plunged into a bloody nightmare. And the older you get the more prone you are to that.

Unless I was staying in a top class five star hotel I wouldn't be comfortable leaving things at reception in a hotel safe. The drill is you just hand it over, a moneybelt say, and that's it. Well they do give you a large envelope to put it in, and you sign across the seal to prove it hasn't been opened, so that's better. And of course there's a 95 per cent chance it'd be fine, but it's not 100 per cent, especially in the average hotel. As for a small safe in the room, forget it. Who knows who has a key or access to that.

Anytime and every time I've been there I've worn a moneybelt concealed around my waist, at all times when I leave the hotel. And for 24 hours a day it's never out of sight or reach. The simple reality is you really cannot afford to fuck up or be a "victim" in somewhere like Thailand or the Philippines, because if you're alone no one's going to ride to your rescue. And trying to get help from the British Embassy, that must be helluva difficult, if they're barely interested at all. I've always been OK up to now, but as I say the older you get the more likely you are to slip up. And if you're alone in that dire situation it would a very, very grim experience.

This is interesting to me; It's been about 5 years since I was in Germany, but over about 40 rooms I never had anyone not do OWO, despite the laws requiring it. OWO, everytime. Heck, at the RTC clubs like Dietz, I routinely paid $50/30 minutes to creampie girls. That was the standard.
